Help A Peace of My Mind Continue Its Impact in 2026

Today we are launching a fall fundraiser to support our work in the new year and we are asking for your help.

If you’ve been following our work, you know that we’ve been busy. 2025 has been a year of growth for A Peace of My Mind and I’m so proud of what we’ve done. But just take a look at the world around us. There’s so much more to do. As we lean into the final few months of the year, we are looking ahead at what 2026 will look like. The scope and scale of what’s possible will be shaped by how much we can fundraise.

Give now.

Take a look at what we’ve been up to:

This fall, our project coordinator Nick ramped up his hours from part time to full time. (He is in Washington DC right now making new connections for the project.)

We added new audio and video gear (plus a drone) so we can expand the ways we tell stories.

I did a scouting trip to Northern Ireland and then spent three weeks there this summer recording dozens of stories about how they have navigated their history of sectarian violence. (We’ll start posting these toward the end of the year.)

We brought on three summer interns from Willamette University and while the University helped greatly with resources, our donors filled the gaps.

We partnered with journalist Barry Yeoman to produce a series from South Louisiana called Still Here: Stories from a Fragile Coastline. (We are posting these weekly right now…I hope you are tuning in!)

We improved our production game by contracting with Razik to sweeten audio for our podcast and website stories. (We are working to add Razik to the team as well, and the resources that we fundraise will determine how quickly that can happen.)

I am a photographer and a writer and a storyteller. But I am also the Executive Director of this nonprofit, which means I have to tell you that all this growth costs money. We are supported by our programing fees and by our book sales. Those fees help to keep the doors open. Those fees pay for our studio space, web hosting, phone bills, insurance, trailer maintenance, hard drives, software, etc etc, etc.

But our new content? Our growth? The new stories that need to be told? The next book? Our live events? There’s no revenue attached to that. Those things are all made possible by our donors.

We are supported by a small and mighty group of donors who believe that this work is important. That these stories build community and create healing. That our exhibits, books, podcasts, events, and programming can help open a space where we can see one another in new and transformative ways.

We see it happen every day.

None of this comes cheap. Gear is expensive. Travel is expensive. Life is expensive. But the price of stopping this work is even more costly.

We want to grow our team. We have more international stories in the works. We intend to continue our series on addiction and recovery. We are developing an audio reflection resource. We want to expand our partnerships.

If you’d like to help us continue the work, we would welcome you to our team. We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible. This link will bring you to our website where you can make a one time gift or become one of our monthly supporters.

Maybe your company offers a match or allows you to direct funds to the nonprofit of your choice. Think of us if they do.

We can take donations by Venmo (though if you need a receipt, that gets a little trickier.)

In a few easy steps we can accept appreciated stock donations, too, so don’t be shy. Reach out and we can walk you through the process.

It all makes a difference and A Peace of My Mind is a 501c3 so your donation is tax deductible.

You watch the same headlines that I do. Now more than ever, we need creative ways to bring people together, to build connections, and to imagine new possibilities. People are looking for tools and ways to connect and I’ve seen A Peace of My Mind deliver that everywhere we go.

I’m all in. I’m going as fast as I can and we are building a team to spread our wings and expand our reach. We’ll need your help to get there. <- (that’s the link)
