Last month we visited Big Sky, Montana for the third year running, to work with the Montana Summer Institute. Their Science of the Positive approach is rooted in the study of how positive factors impact culture and experience. In short, it is less focused on admiring the problems of the world, and more interested in fostering and growing the factors that lead communities toward the circumstances where all people can thrive.
They convene youth advocates, social welfare experts and public health professionals each summer to talk about new research, public policy, and best practices in community development.
During our studio series at the conference, we asked, “When have you seen the Positive in your community?”
I always say that this this project is based in public art and it only works when the public shows up. These folks showed up.
Thanks to everyone who shared their story, and for the work you are doing to make your communities better places for all of us.
